ABF Import Dialog
This page describes the contents of the Axon Instruments ABF data import dialog.
Parameters
File parameters. Only parameters that apply to the current file are displayed. The parameters are:
- Comment
- A comment supplied by the user
- Created
- The file creation date and time
- Creator
- The program that created the file
- Mode
- The data acquisition mode. The mode is one of:
| Mode |
| Clampex |
| Gap-free |
| Fixed-length events |
| Variable-length events |
| High-speed oscilloscope |
- Sampling interval
- The interval between frames in the file
- Second interval
- The second interval between frames in the file. ABF files recorded in Clampex mode may use an initial sampling interval for the first part of each episode and a second sampling interval for the second part. If the file is recorded with two sampling intervals, this entry is the second sampling interval.
- Second start
- If two sampling intervals are used, the sample number from which data points are sampled at the second sampling interval.
- Runs
- The number of runs averaged for each recorded episode
- Stimulus
- ABF files recorded in Clampex mode may contain a stimulus. If a stimulus was used during recording, the source of the stimulus waveform. Possible stimulus sources are:
| Name | Source |
| Epochs | The stimulus template is stored as a sequence as epochs |
| DAC File | The stimulus source is a sequence of data values |
Episodes
A list of the episodes in the file. For each episode the following information is displayed:
- Index
- A sequential index for the series within the file
- Time
- The starting time of the episode within the file
- Frames
- The number of frames acquired within the episode, that is, the number of data values recorded for each channel.
To specify that data from a given episode be imported, select that episode in the list. Any combination of episodes can be selected.
Channels
A list of the acquired data channels recorded in the file. You can select an arbitrary collection of channels. For each channel the following information is displayed:
- Index
- A sequential index for the channel within the file
- Label
- A text label for the channel, provided by the user during recording.
- Units
- The units of the channel data, provided by the user during recording.
To specify that data from a given channel be imported, select that channel in the list. Any combination of channels can be selected.
Tags
A list of the tags recorded in the file. For each tag the following information is displayed:
- Index
- A sequential index for the tag within the file
- Time
- The time of the tag within the file
- Type
- The tag type. The type is one of:
| Type |
| Time |
| Comment |
| External |
| Voice |
- Comment
- The comment associated with a comment tag
Data
A graph of the currently selected data.
Vertical lines delimit the data that will be imported. You can move the lines by dragging them with the mouse.
Include
- Data
- If this box is checked, the selected data is imported.
- Stimulus1
- If this box is checked, the first stimulus waveform corresponding to the selected data is imported. This box is disabled if the first stimulus was not used.
- Stimulus2
- If this box is checked, the second stimulus waveform corresponding to the selected data is imported. This box is disabled if the second stimulus was not used.
- Tags
- If this box is checked, the tag times and comments are imported. These will follow the waveform columns.
- Time
- If this box is checked, the first (leftmost) column of imported data contains time values relative to the beginning of the episode.
Buttons
- Import
- Import the selected data into the analysis program.
- Section
- Displays the ABF section dialog.
- Cancel
- Cancel the import and close the dialog.
- Help
- Bring up this text.
